Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, I can be a time waster. That’s embarrassing to confess and even more mortifying to put down for all to read.
So, why am I telling you this if it’s so embarrassing? Well, because from an outsider’s vantage point, I doubt few would ever say that about me. From all outward appearances, I get things done. But you would never know how long it takes me to actually get some things done. Particularly when it comes to writing.
I’m always on the lookout for interesting things to write. Something that might cause you to pause, ponder, and perhaps even make you smile or inspire you to take action. The fact is I spend more time walking around, picking up lint, throwing in a load of laundry, or whatever else I see that easily distracts me from actually sitting down at my computer to write.
I’ve finally figured out why I waste so much time before that first stroke on my keyboard. Are you ready for this true confession? I’m afraid. Yes, that’s right. I’m afraid you won’t like what I write. I’m afraid you won’t come back and read another blog if this one bores you to tears. And, I’m afraid that my words might dry up and I’ll never have anything interesting to say again.
So let me ask you, “Do you ever waste time for fear of failing or not getting the response you hope to receive?
The truth is I think we’re all guilty of this. Yes, even the high-powered executive has been known to wander around in circles behind closed doors in his office.
At this point, I bet you’re just waiting for the ‘simple tool’ you think I have up my sleeve to help you stop wasting time. As a matter of fact, I do. Just do it. Yep, just take a step and don’t try to please everyone. Don’t worry someone won’t like what you write, create or whatever you have to do and stop wasting time.
The simple truth is you won’t please everyone. So stop trying. Don’t waste another minute trying to please everyone. Take it from me, you won’t!
